ConstructHER Legal Network — Singapore Roundtable

Hosted by WongPartnership

ConstructHER Legal Network made its international debut in Singapore with a roundtable of women construction professionals, graciously hosted by WongPartnership.

“The gap is not competence. The gap is visibility. But what happens after visibility?” This thought-provoking question emerged from a candid conversation on the opportunities and challenges facing women in construction.

What began as a conversation about ConstructHER Legal Network evolved into an exchange on professional credibility, unconscious bias, business development, motherhood, male allies and the importance of women supporting women.

Claims vs Commercial Reality: Where Do Projects Actually Break?

In partnership with MCIA, HFW and the Australian Centre for International Commercial Arbitration (ACICA)

Construction disputes rarely emerge overnight. Delays, contractual expectations, project management decisions, commercial pressures and communication gaps can gradually transform into claims. Understanding where that process begins, and how it can be addressed early, is critical for both legal and project professionals.

The panel brought together perspectives from Singapore, Australia, Kenya and Dubai, making this a truly cross-jurisdictional conversation.

SIAC – ConstructHER Breakfast Roundtable on Construction Arbitration

Supported by Osborne Partners

ConstructHER Legal Network, in collaboration with the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC), hosted a closed-door Breakfast Roundtable on Construction Arbitration, bringing together a select group of leading practitioners, General Counsel, arbitrators, experts and industry stakeholders.

The roundtable, themed “Defaults, Discretion, and Design: Should Institutions Build Construction-Specific Rules, or Just Offer Specialists?”, explored how arbitral institutions can respond more effectively to the particular demands of construction and infrastructure disputes.

The discussion examined whether institutions should remain procedurally generalist while offering access to specialist arbitrators, or go further by incorporating construction-specific features into their procedural frameworks. Participants exchanged perspectives on issues including delay analysis protocols, joint expert statements, concurrent expert evidence, tribunal discretion and the appropriate balance between procedural consistency and party autonomy.

The conversation also considered the broader opportunities and challenges shaping construction arbitration, with practical insights from those working at the forefront of construction and infrastructure disputes.
