About ConstructHER Global Legal Network

A practitioner-led platform for women in construction, infrastructure, and energy law.

Our Story

Built specifically for the construction and infrastructure legal ecosystem.

ConstructHER Global Legal Network was founded in January 2026 by Mehak Oberoi out of a straightforward professional observation: women are doing substantive, high-stakes work across construction and infrastructure law, and the industry's platforms are not reflecting that.

This is not a general professional women's network. It is a specialist platform, built specifically for the construction and infrastructure legal ecosystem — for practitioners who understand FIDIC, who sit across the table in complex disputes, who advise on EPC contracts, renewable energy projects, and cross-border claims.

ConstructHER exists because that expertise deserves structured, permanent visibility.

What We Stand For

Three pillars that work in sequence — not in isolation.

Visibility

Recognition where it matters. Women are not absent from construction law — they are absent from the panels, publications, and platforms that shape how the industry sees itself. ConstructHER creates structured opportunities for senior practitioners to publish, speak, and be seen as experts in a discipline.

Voice

Influence, not just presence. Being in the room is not enough. ConstructHER creates space for women to actively shape industry dialogue — through cross-border discussions, institutional engagement, and commentary on claims trends, renewable energy risk, and dispute resolution reform.

Vocation

Pathways, not just inspiration. For the next generation, the challenge is access, not ambition. ConstructHER connects law students and early-career professionals with practitioners through mentorship, merit-based internship facilitation, and direct exposure to live construction and infrastructure work.

The Founder

Mehak Oberoi

Founder, ConstructHER Global Legal Network

Mehak Oberoi is a senior legal executive, arbitrator, and India's first trained and certified woman construction mediator, certified through the Construction Industry Arbitration Council (CIAC). With over 19 years of experience across construction, infrastructure, and renewable energy law spanning multiple jurisdictions, she brings rare depth across the full spectrum of construction dispute resolution — from contract strategy and claims management through to arbitration and mediation. Until recently, she served as Legal Head – Hydro Power (Asia Pacific) at GE Vernova, advising commercial leadership and board stakeholders on high-value transactions, governance, and cross-border regulatory matters across the region.

Mehak's recognitions reflect consistent performance at the intersection of law, leadership, and industry impact. She is featured in the 8th Edition of "The Phenomenal SHE" Coffee Table Book by the Indian National Bar Association, recognised among Top In-House Counsels by India Business Law Journal, and named on the Hall of Fame for General Counsels 2025 by Lawwiser. She is included in BW Legal World's 40 Under 40, and is a recipient of the Women Excellence Award by the International Institute of Arbitration and Mediation and the Rising Star Award at the UK India Legal Partnership Annual Awards, presented by the Law Minister of India. At GE, she received the Asia Impact Award, South Asia President's Award, and the Hydro CEO Award — twice. She serves as a Board Member of the Society of Construction Law – India, and is affiliated with ICC, IAMC, and CII's ESG and Climate Change Sub-Committee.

In January 2026, Mehak founded ConstructHER Global Legal Network — a practitioner-led international platform dedicated to Visibility, Voice, and Vocation for women in construction and infrastructure law. ConstructHER reflects her conviction that structured professional platforms, not aspiration alone, are what shift representation in highly specialised sectors.

She also writes Constructive Counsel, a Substack on construction law.

Where We Operate

Global by design.

Our network spans practitioners across Asia Pacific, South Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and beyond — reflecting the jurisdictions where construction and infrastructure law is being made, tested, and contested.

We publish a quarterly practitioner-led e-magazine. We host substantive webinars. We run structured mentorship cycles. And we build the kind of peer-level connections that only come from working in the same sector, across different countries, on problems that matter.

ConstructHER Global Legal Network is a privately founded professional initiative. It operates independently and has no affiliation with GE Vernova or its affiliates.
